Auburn vs North Carolina Betting Preview

Besides Oregon (#12 seed), Auburn is the lowest seed left in the College Basketball National Tournament being the 5th seed and taking on top seed North Carolina in the Midwest Region.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of the Houston vs. Kentucky game for the right to go to the Final Four.

Auburn is one of the hotter teams in the Sweet 16, as they have won eight in a row including beating top 10 Tennessee twice and in the SEC title game.

After a narrow first round win the Tigers showed their claws in their last game, beating up on 4th seed Kansas and scoring 89 points. Surprisingly, Auburn has never faced North Carolina.

North Carolina has breezed through their first two games and crushed Washington in their last game. The Tar Heels have not played the best defense on the season, but did in their last game.

Their offense can light it up, ranking 3rd in the nation putting up an average of 86 ppg.

Auburn Tigers Form

After beating 12th seed New Mexico State 78-77 in the first round they bounced 4th seed Kansas beating them 89-75 in their last game. The Tigers killed it in the first half outscoring KU 51-25 and held on for the win in a game where they shot a solid 52.5% from the floor holding the Jayhawks to 45.8% shooting and forced 16 turnovers while only committing six.

Four of five starters for Auburn went for at least 11 points led by Bryce Brown with 25 points. Brown leads the team on the season averaging 15.9 ppg and Jared Harper is averaging 15.3 ppg.

Brown did not have a good opening game with only 13 points on a bad shooting game before coming up big against Kansas and Harper has totaled 35 points in the two tournament games.

Auburn vs North Carolina Sweet 16 Picks

Auburn was impressive in beating Kansas in their last game, but they will not be so impressive in this one. They are running into a hit UNC team that is legit on both sides of the floor and has played great in their first two games of the tournament.

The Tigers may not get blown out, but the Tar Heels are still the pick to win and cover the spread.

Pick: North Carolina -4.5 (-110)
