It all comes down to this – the Men’s Basketball National Championship between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Virginia Cavaliers.
We have Texas Tech vs Virginia betting tips for the final, which will be played on April 8 at U.S Bank Stadium.
The Red Raiders came through their Final Four battle against Michigan State in fine style, but it wasn’t so easy for the Cavaliers, which relied on some luck and clutch free-throw shooting to score yet another miraculous comeback.
The College Basketball Playoffs has been fantastic and bettors get to enjoy one more game for the 2018/2019 season.
Texas Tech Form
Texas Tech was dominant against Michigan State when scoring by 61-51. They held a good margin for most of the game after leading at halftime and their defense continues to be supreme heading into the final.
They allowed only 51 points against a good-scoring side in the Spartans and given that Virginia isn’t a high-scoring team, that could play into the Red Raiders’ hands.
Red Raiders can shoot on their day and Jarrett Culver leading the way with 18.9 points per game, Texas Tech has a reliable shooter who can score in bunches.
They have won five straight coming into this and with wins over Buffalo, Michigan, Gonzaga and Michigan State during March Madness, we’re not surprised to see them full of confidence.
Winning this game will depend on playing shut-down defense but also getting regular buckets from the leaders of the team.
We’re not sure how the Cavaliers made it into the Championship game, but they have pulled off two incredible victories.
The first came against Purdue when making a bucket with time expiring but that doesn’t compare to the Final Four miracle against Auburn. They were down by 2 points with only 1.5 seconds on the clock before Kyle Guy was fouled shooting a corner three.
Guy, who showed no signs of anxiety, knocked down all three free throws to see Virginia through to an unlikely final.
This Virginia team has something to prove after a shock exit last season and they’re relying on a little bit of luck and some extreme skill to get there.
They’re another team, much like Texas Tech, which thrives on the defensive end and it’s going to make for a low-scoring and intriguing affair.
Virginia has more knock down shooters than Texas Tech and that could give them an advantage come Monday.

Texas Tech vs Virginia betting tips
Bookmakers have Virginia as the –1 favorites and we’re not surprised. This game should be a closely-fought contest throughout and it’s tough to separate them.
We are, however, giving the advantage to the Cavaliers because of their experience and ability to score from the three-point line. They also have a top NBA draft pick and that could be the difference come Monday.
