Braves vs Phillies Betting Preview
Thursday March 28, 3:05pm @ Citizens Bank Park Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Braves open their season as the defending National League East champs and they face their old rival in the Phillies, who are the betting favorite to win the division this season.
Atlanta scored the 10th most runs in the Majors last season and they have a staff with several solid young arms.
The Phillies made many big off-season moves, none bigger than winning the Bryce Harper sweepstake. They have not made the MLB Playoffs in the last six seasons and were two games under .500 last season to finish in 3rd place in the NL East.
The club and the “City of Brotherly Love” have high hopes this season and with good reason given the roster they have.
Atlanta Braves Form
The Braves return reigning Rookie of the Year Ronald Acuna Jr, who led the team with 26 HR and batted .293, and Freddie Freeman, who led the team with 98 RBI and 191 hits.
Josh Donaldson should add some pop to the lineup that has a lot of young talent that has to progress this season if the Braves are to repeat as division champions.
In this season opener Julio Teheran will get the start for Atlanta and last season he was 9-9 with an ERA of 3.94.
Dating back to last season the Braves have won five of his last seven starts and have won six of his last eight road starts facing the Phillies.
Philadelphia Phillies Form
Not only did the Phillies break the bank to bring Harper aboard, but they also brought in J.T. Realmuto, Jean Segura, and Andrew McCutchen. The team is hoping that these new players can help a lineup that only ranked 22nd in the Majors in runs scored last season.
Rhys Hoskins led the team with 34 HR and 96 RBI and with Philly trading Carlos Santana to Cleveland, Hoskins is the only returning player that had more than 22 HR and 71 RBI.
The pitching staff was solid for Philadelphia last season and Aaron Nola takes the hill in this season opener. Last season he was in the Cy Young conversation going 17-6 with an ERA of 2.37.
The Phillies have won 21 of his last 29 starts and have won 22 of his last 28 home starts. Nola also had success facing the Braves last season, as the Phillies are 5-1 in his last six home starts facing them.

Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction & Tips
The new faces for the Phillies may not have the best MLB Opening Day, but it will not matter with Nola on the hill. He will tame the Braves bats and while Teheran may have a good outing, he will give up at least a couple runs.
Nola will have a great first start and lead the Phillies to a win in their season opener.
Tip: Phillies SU (-177)
