2019 MLB American League Futures Preview, Betting Tips & Predictions

No surprise that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have the best odds to win the AL this season, but the 2017 World Series champion Astros may be in the mix to win the MLB American League in 2020.

We have American League Betting Tips for 2020, which is set to see another exciting year of baseball action.

MLB American League Best Bets

New York Yankees +275

The Yankees made the MLB Playoffs last season and it is World Series or bust for them this season as well. They brought in infielders Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu and starters James Paxton and resigned J.A. Happ.

New York has the offense led by Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Aaron Hicks, but the pitching is an issue and the starters need to do their job for a few innings to get to an elite bullpen.

Boston Red Sox +280

The Red Sox won it all last season and they did not make any big moves in the off-season, but did lose setup man Joe Kelly and closer Craig Kimbrel. Still, they have some young talent and Chris Sale anchors a legit staff.

Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. make up THE best outfield trio in the Majors and DH J.D. Martinez had 43 HR and 130 RBI last season.

Houston Astros +285

The Astros won it all in 2017 and the offense will be fine with the likes of Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman and George Springer and the addition of Michael Brantley.

The pitching may be an issue, which is a surprise, as the team still has Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole, but Dallas Keuchel left in free agency and Lance McCullers will miss the season after Tommy John surgery.

Cleveland Indians +600

The Tribe have one the best staffs in the Majors anchored by ace Corey Kluber and the team added Carlos Santana and Jake Bauers in free agency to boost the lineup.

However, the loss of Michael Brantley may hurt and the bullpen was pretty bad last season and has major issues heading into this season.

Oakland Athletics +1475

The A’s were a surprise last season making the playoffs, but can they do it again?

The pitching is the main issue with Sean Manaea out for a while with a shoulder issue and Trevor Cahill and Edwin Jackson leaving in free agency.

Still, the AL West is wide-open and the Oakland offense is in good shape with Khris Davis and Stephen Piscotty in the lineup.

Los Angeles Angels +2150

The Angles have the best player in baseball in Mike Trout and they awarded him the biggest pro sports contract ever giving him $430 million over 12 years.

He and Justin Upton give the Halos some pop, but the bottom of the lineup is a concern and can the new additions of Matt Harvey and Trevor Cahill fit into a rotation that needs stability?

Tampa Bay Rays +2150

The Rays have solid pitching, but their lineup is a concern and they only ranked 27th last season in HR.

On top of that they let go their top two HR hitters from last season. On top of that again is the fact Tampa is in the same division as the loaded Red Sox and Yankees.

Minnesota Twins +2350

The Twins added Nelson Cruz, C.J. Cron and Jonathan Schoop to help a pretty good lineup, but while starters Jose Berrios and Kyle Gibson are reliable the staff has major question marks.

They are hoping some young arms from the farm system and Michael Pineda coming back from Tommy John surgery can help a staff that only ranked 22nd in the Majors last season in team ERA.
