Washington Nationals Form

The visiting Nationals are sending one of their better arms to the mound in Patrick Corbin. Corbin is 11-6 with an ERA of 3.19. Corbin is coming off a strong August and a win in his most recent start.

He just went over the 200 strikeout mark this season while pitching 178 innings. Corbin has been exceptional at getting whiffs lately striking out 8 or more in 5 of his last 7 starts.

He has surrendered 3 runs or more just once since the all star break. Corbin has made two starts vs Atlanta this year. He is 1-0 over 11 innings and giving up 4 ER. Both of those games were at home, however.

Corbin has been just average on the road this season, 4-4 with a 4.61 ERA. His struggles on the road have been minimized in his last two starts. Corbin is capable of getting guys out and will need his best stuff vs the potent Braves hitters.

The Nats are 78-60 on the season and playing well as of late with 7 wins in their last 10. The offense is clicking very well having scored 7 runs in all but 1 of their last 10.

Anthony Rendon leads the Nats across the board in every offensive category. He is having a monster year with 32 HRs, 114 RBI, and hitting at a high clip of .338.

Juan Soto the young phenom also has 32 HRs on the year. He is very hot as of late with multi hits in 8 of the last 10 games. Soto is on fire right now.

Trea Turner is collecting lots of base hits as well as of late. He is threat to steal any time he is on with 31 bags on the year. He and teammate Victor Robles who has 24 have the most by a pair of teammates across the bigs this year.

Howie Kendrick has returned from the IL and with expanded rosters gives the Nats a great option to plug and play. Kendrick hits very well and still has some power.

The Nationals are capable of scoring and are disciplined at the plate talking walks and limiting strikeouts.

Atlanta Braves Form

The Braves are sending veteran Dallas Keuchel to start this matchup. Keuchel is 6-5 with a 3.72 ERA this year. Keuchel signed with the Braves early June after not getting a deal done with any teams over the offseason.

That wasn’t due to a lack of ability rather than the disagreement in guaranteed money. Keuchel has been hitting his stride as of late. The Braves have won 4 starts in a row of Keuchels.

Keuchel is not a big strikeout guy, rather known for his outstanding sinker which produces a lot of ground balls. Keuchel is a former Cy Young and hitting his stride at the right time. He mixes his sinker cutter and other pitches in very well and should limit the Nationals hot offense.

He has made two appearances this season vs the Nats. Going 5 innings and allowing 3 and 4 runs in those starts. Both those starts were on the road. At home Keuchel is 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA. Keuchel will exhibit good command of the zone and force hitters into a lot of ground balls.

The Braves are 86-54 on the year playing extremely well as they are 8-2 in their last 10. The Braves offense is powered and led by a trio of guys with 30 plus HRs. One of those guys is MVP candidate Ronald Acuna Jr., who has 36 HRs, 92 RBI and 33 SB.

The premier power and speed guy in the bigs right now, and a game changer on offense and defense. Freddie Freeman has thrown himself into the MVP race as well as he leads the Braves in all offensive categories. Freeman has 38 Hrs, and 114 RBI with an even .300 average.

The third guy of the power trio is former MVP Josh Donaldson. Donaldson has heated up as of late getting his HRs total to 34. Ozzie Albies, Matt Joyce and Tyler Flowers have been very productive as of late showing the Braves can hit 1-9.

Nationals vs. Braves MLB Friday Predictions

This game will be big and very important to both squads. The Braves have been very good at home and will have that luxury here. Keuchel has been exceptional at home.

A tough lineup in the Nationals but Keuchels effective sinker should limit the power of the Nats bats. Corbin who has been great lately will face some tough hitters.

Look for the Braves to create offense and score enough to win the game.

The Braves bullpen has stabilized as of late and can shut down the late innings when needed.
