Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
1pm, Thursday March 28 @ Yankee Stadium
Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees is always a great way to start the new MLB season and we have a preview, predictions & betting tips available.
Much is expected of the New York Yankees in 2019, much like every season for the Bronx Bombers, but there’s an air of confidence surrounding the Yankees this season.
They are striving for a title and nothing less, whereas the Baltimore Orioles will be happy to break the 60-win mark. It could be a long season for the Orioles but there’s a long way to go and they could surprise bettors on Opening Day.
Baltimore Orioles Form
With no regular season form to go on, we’re going on 2019 expectations for the Baltimore Orioles and they’re not very high.
Intentions were made clear in the off-season when management traded Manny Machado, Jonathan Schoop, Kevin Gausman, Darren O’Day and Zach Britton. That’s some big names on the traded list and we believe they’re freeing up cap space for future seasons.
That’s probably a fair result for the Orioles as they didn’t look like MLB Playoffs contenders this season, even with the controversial Manny Machado at third base.
Where are the positives for the Orioles against the Yankees on Thursday? They have Jonathan Villar playing second base and veteran hitter Chris Davis enters the fourth year of his overvalued $161 million deal.
Davis’ deal hasn’t quite worked out for the Orioles but he’s a powerful hitter and Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka will have to be cautious when throwing the fast ball.
Baltimore’s chances of beating the Yankees rely on starting pitcher Andrew Cashner, who has a career ERA of 4.02 but disconcertingly has won only 46 of his 125 games started.
New York Yankees Form
The New York Yankees start the season with Masahiro Tanaka, who has been a steady arm for the Yankees in past seasons.
The Japanese-born 30-year-old has a career ERA of 3.59 and his win/loss record stands at 64-34. He wins more often than not for the Yankees and he will be relied upon to their start season on March 28.
Given the line-up New York Yankees will present on Opening Day, we’re confident Tanaka could give up three or four runs early and still come out as the winning starting pitcher. Names such as Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres can all send the ball 400+ feet for a home run.
The long ball is the biggest asset for the Yankees, who destroyed the home run record last season. Left fielder Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge have already publicly stated that they will break their own record and we wouldn’t put it past them.
If you’re a Yankees fan or bettor, strap in for a fun season.

Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees Prediction & Tips
Opening Day is never easy to predict and there are threats across the park for both teams, but we can’t go against the New York Yankees in this situation.
The Yankees know how to deliver in big situations and although winning in March doesn’t have much of an effect on the season come October, it’s good to get off to a winning start.
Baltimore made their intentions clear prior to the season starting when selling off their best players. The Yankees, on the other hand, remained strong and their young stars are only going to get better.
Barring injury, the Yankees hitting lineup should remain steady throughout the season and when you have positional players such as Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius and Jacoby Ellsbury on the roster, it makes for bad reading for the opposition.
