Pacers vs Thunder NBA Thursday Preview
8:00pm, Thursday March 28, 2019 @ Chesapeake Energy Arena
Two NBA Playoff-bound team compete on NBA Thursday as the Indiana Pacers travel to Oklahoma City to take on the OKC Thunder. Both teams are looking to put some poor recent performances behind them as playoff seeding becomes more important towards the end of the season.
When the Paul George trade went down, many around the league were confused because at first glance neither team won that trade. Fast forward to 2019 and it became clear that both teams won that trade.
Now those two are set to battle it out in a crucial NBA game where one team will have their star, while the other team won’t. Victor Oladipo won’t be playing for the Pacers but they have done well without their star to this point and it should continue for the rest of the season.
Indiana Pacers Form
The Pacers come to town after a crushing victory against a good Denver team. Despite that, they have only won four of their last 10, but that’s hardly surprising considering they are missing their best player in Victor Oladipo for the better part of the season.
The fact that they are still placed fourth in the East is remarkable as many critics said they would miss the playoffs. To put it into context, Pacers are two games ahead of Boston and will probably remain there barring a late-season push from the Celtics.
They are playing a beautiful brand of basketball, sharing the ball and getting everybody involved while simultaneously playing some very good defence.
OKC Thunder Form
The Thunder enter this game in a very difficult position. While they are set to be in the playoffs, the position at which they will enter them remains to be seen.
Currently, they occupy the eighth spot but they only trail the fifth placed team by one game. Not long ago they were third in the West, so what happened? Well, Russell Westbrook started shooting like a maniac and that hurt them.
Their best stretch was when Westbrook allowed Paul George to be the alpha and they were beating everybody with ease. Lately, not so much because they have won only four of the last 10. In these ten games, Westbrook is shooting ten more shots on average than during their winning stretch. His efficiency has plummeted and George is experiencing his worst stretch of the season.
Pacers vs Thunder Betting Trends
- Pacers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
- Pacers are 6-1 in their last 7 vs NBA Northwest.
- Thunder are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 vs NBA Central.
- Thunder are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings against Pacers at home.
Pacers vs Thunder Prediction & Game Pick
Bettors never know what they’re going to get when backing the Thunder. If you get a team where Westbrook just ignores any type of game plan, then they will most likely lose.
The Pacers haven’t been playing great basketball this past week, which might be attributed to the fact they are saving some energy for the playoffs. They are set to have Collison back which will boost their confidence and overall chance to win this one.
As far OKC goes, they will have a healthy team at their disposal, which should set them up to win this one at home.
We’re expecting the Thunder to hold home court here and comfortably cover the spread as Paul George scores 30+ points.
Pick: Thunder -6 (-101)
