Lakers vs Jazz Betting Preview
Thursday March 28, 2019, 8:30pm @ Vivint Smart Home Arena
The Lakers didn’t envision this season going so badly with LeBron James at the helm, but they can save face towards the end of season. Beating the likes of the Utah Jazz on NBA Thursday will give them confidence going into next season.
The Jazz, however, will enter the contest against the Lakers high on confidence following Mondays win over the Phoenix Suns.
Utah Jazz Form
Utah Jazz head into the fixture sitting pretty in fifth in the Western Conference, and remain one of the bookmakers’ favorites to claim an NBA Playoff spot. This was helped by their exceptional performance recently against the Suns; in which the Jazz won 125-92.
All-in-all, it was a strange evening at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, as all five of the Utah starters finished with double figures; while no bench players did. Rudy Gobert led the Jazz with 27 points.
Meanwhile, Phoenix guard Devin Booker led his side with 59 points, but none of his teammates scored more than nine. This was Jazz’s seventh win in eight fixtures; with the one defeat coming against the Atlanta Hawks last week.
It could be argued that the teams that they came up against on their road-trip were the weakest that they could have faced. But, it’s important to remember that they still need to be beaten; just ask Raptors fans.
The Jazz will again be without Dante Exum who remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury.
LA Lakers Form
The Lakers have endured a terrible campaign, especially considering how high the expectations were at the beginning on the season after signing the legendary LeBron James.
Fans began to dream of an NBA Championship, but what they have got is the complete opposite, a team that won’t even make the playoffs. They ended a run of six consecutive losses as they beat the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night, but it hasn’t improved the quality of the Lakers’ record.
Two wins in 12 games since the beginning of March is the worst record of any side in the NBA. The devastation was heightened when the Lakers lost to the Brooklyn Nets last Saturday in a result which meant that the Lakers couldn’t possibly make it to the NBA Playoffs.
This is also the first time since 2005 that LeBron James hasn’t featured in the later rounds of the season. However, he was quick to reassure fans that this could be the beginning of something special in Los Angeles.
“Believe me Lakers fans, the spell won’t last much longer. I swear! The marathon continues,” James said.
The post-season will inevitably have to require a massive clear out and top-players arriving if James is to stick to his promise, because at present, this team won’t be getting to any NBA Championship Games.
Lakers vs Jazz NBA Prediction
It’s difficult to support the Lakers this season, especially when you consider their away court form.
They haven’t won any of their last four fixtures away from Los Angeles, while Jazz has won their last three at the Vivint Arena. It looks unlikely that this record will change against the LA Lakers.
Jazz have an average of 101 points scored per game against the Lakers this season, compared to the average of 95 points that they have conceded against their opponents.
The Jazz looks sure to add to their January win over the Lakers.
Tip: Jazz to win (-800)
