NBA Predictions, Picks & Preview – Trail Blazers vs Nuggets Game 7
We have NBA Predictions for Game 7 between the Portland Trail Blazers vs Denver Nuggets Game 7.
It all comes down to Game 7 in Denver on Sunday as the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets look to book their spot in the Western Conference Final.
A spot against the Golden State Warriors awaits the winner and this could be one of the more exciting NBA Playoff games to date.
Denver holds a strong home record but Portland has Damian Lillard and he could make all the difference.
Our NBA Predictions look at the form and latest news from both sides.
Portland Trail Blazers Form & News
The Trail Blazers had every right to pick it in after trailing in Game 6 but they dug deep for the win. The 119-108 win showed their fighting qualities and it bodes well for Game 7.
Sunday’s game is going to be all about heart. Which team wants it more? Portland could make a case that they have been preparing for a game like this for many years, whereas Denver couldn’t make that case.
Portland had only a 21-20 away record during the regular season and that could hurt them here. However, they scored a 97-90 win in Denver during this series and that should give them confidence.
The onus for the Blazers is put on both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, who both possess the ability to score 40+ points on any given day. We believe it will take a good effort from both players in Game 7.
One player who has plenty to play for is Seth Curry, who got into an altercation with Will Barton during their Game 6 win.
“He (Barton) waited for a few people to get in between us, and when a few people were in between us, he put his finger in my eye,” Curry said. “I can’t allow dudes to put their fingers in my eye.”
Curry has the opportunity to play against his brother Steph, who plays for the Golden State Warriors. Should Portland make it through to the Western Conference Finals, it will be an intriguing match up between the Curry brothers.
Denver Nuggets Form & News
The Nuggets aren’t an attractive team but they get the job done. Leading the way is Nikola Jokic, who can seemingly get his own shot whenever he wants.
He’s averaging over 20 points per game in the playoffs and he’s leading the team with 10.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. Jokic has been a one-man wrecking ball to date and most of the play runs through him.
Jokic isn’t the only star on this team, however, as Jamal Murray and Will Barton have stepped up when needed. Barton, who was the aggressor in the Game 6 scuffle, provided his explanation.
“I’m not going to try to justify that as a way for us to play hard or wake us up,” Barton said Thursday night. “I just feel like it’s being competitive, it’s playoff basketball, some things are going to happen. If we’re all out there just being friendly, it ain’t gonna look like nobody’s trying to win, huh?”
The Nuggets are a professional outfit which does what they need to win. BetOnline has them as the –5.5 favorites and that’s fair given their home record.
Nuggets won 34 and lost only 7 regular season games at Pepsi Center.
