NBA Predictions, Picks & Preview – Trail Blazers vs Warriors Game 2
We have NBA Predictions for Game 2 between the Portland Trail Blazers vs Golden State Warriors on Thursday May 16.
There was plenty on the line for the Trail Blazers in Game 1 and they came up short in most areas. They’re going to need a bounce-back performance because going down 0-2 to the Warriors is a death sentence.
More will be needed from their star players and if they let Steph Curry get wide open, this series could be a sweep.
Our NBA Predictions look at the form and latest news from both the Trail Blazers and Warriors for the all-important Game 2.
Portland Trail Blazers Form & News
Damian Lillard… where art thou? He might be struggling with a minor hamstring injury, but Portland needs their star to step up.
Lillard was relatively ineffective in Game 1 and his status as a potential superstar is taking a hit. It could continue to take a hit in this series as Steph Curry is making a fool of him.
Defensively, the Trail Blazers were poor in Game 1. They let Curry get wide open off the pick and roll and he buried them. It was a planned tactic and it’s mind boggling.
Bettors should expect to see Portland trap Curry in Game 2 before switching out to cover Klay Thompson. Portland will be wanting the likes of Green and Igouadala to shoot, as it’s a much better option than the splash brothers.
Despite Curry going off in Game 1, Portland was in hunt for most of the game. They kept it close for a long time and only succumb to the pressure late in the game.
“Whatever was happening, we were still hanging around,” said Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts. “So we were encouraged by that, and then obviously they broke loose in the fourth quarter, but down six going into the fourth, there was some things to be encouraged about.
“So you know, we’ll bounce back and see what we can do better.”
That should give them confidence going forward, knowing that they will be better defensively and Lillard should have a better game.
Golden State Warriors Form & News
It was the Warriors of old that came out to play in Game 1. Yes, having Kevin Durant in your team makes you better, but it also makes Steph Curry worse.
With Durant in the team, Curry averages around 20 points. Without Durant, he’s averaging in excess of 34 points per game and, in our opinion, makes the Warriors more attractive to watch.
It opens up the floor and the more space the Warriors get, the better they are. Obviously, Durant is a top-three player in the NBA, but losing him for this series isn’t a big talking point.
The splash brothers, coupled with two good passers of the game (Green, Iggy) is enough for the Warriors to potentially win this series in either four of five games.
The score in Game 1 (116-94) probably didn’t reflect how close the game got at times, but the class of the Warriors was too much. Portland were able to make a couple of runs throughout the game but it wasn’t on the back of their stars.
Golden State did a great job at keeping the Trail Blazers’ dynamic duo in check.

Trail Blazers vs Warriors Game 2 NBA Predictions
Our NBA Predictions are tipping the Portland Trail Blazers to keep this game close.
If they do a better job defensively and don’t leave Steph Curry wide open behind the three-point line, there’s no reason why Portland can’t keep this close.
They will need a better effort from Lillard and McCollum, but they’re due a big game against the Warriors.
Bookmakers have the line at 8 and that’s substantial.
