Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Week 3 Predictions, Preview & NFL Betting Tips
We have Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Week 3 Predictions, Preview & NFL Betting Tips for the big game this week in Buffalo.
The Buffalo Bills, to the surprise of many, have a chance to get to 3-0 this week when they host the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is at 1:00 EST on Sunday, September 22.
Early betting lines have the Bills as 6-point favorites with an over/under of 44 points.
Cincinnati Bengals Form
Of course, the early part of the current season has been a mini-disaster for the Bengals. Cincinnati nearly pulled off an upset of the Seahawks in Week 1, leading many to hold out hope that the Bengals would bet better than expected under first-time head coach Zac Taylor.
But those thoughts quickly dissipated last week when the Bengals got shellacked at home 41-17 by the 49ers. Cincinnati is now 0-2 and could see their season end before it gets started if they don’t win soon.
Dalton will become a popular scapegoat for the team’s problem, but it’s the Cincinnati running game that’s been the problem.
While Joe Mixon probably wasn’t 100% in Week 2 after leaving Week 1 with an injury, he has just 27 yards on 17 carries through two games. Backup Giovani Bernard hasn’t been much better.

As a team, the Bengals are gaining just 1.8 yards per rush on the ground. Meanwhile, Dalton has been sacked nine times in two games.
Keep in mind that the Bengals are also without A.J. Green during the early part of their season. But regardless of who’s available and who’s playing quarterback, no team is going to win with an offensive line that can’t generate a running game or protect the quarterback.
On top of that, the Cincinnati defense went from surprisingly solid in Week 1 to a disaster in Week 2. One would think that coming home would help the Bengals. Instead, they gave up nearly 600 yards of offense against the 49ers, getting shredded both on the ground and through the air.
Buffalo Bills Form
As mentioned, the Bills are 2-0 and are now favored to move to 3-0. Oddly enough, both of Buffalo’s wins came on the road at MetLife Stadium against their “New York” rivals, the Jets and Giants.
Most will agree that the Bills were fortunate to escape with a win over the Jets in Week 1 after turning it over four times. But there’s no denying that the Bills were the better team during their Week 2 win against the Giants.

Thus far, it’s the Buffalo defense that’s had the biggest impact on the team’s success. The Bills currently rank fifth in the NFL in defense, allowing just 15 points per game.
To be fair, the run defense has been a little average, although the Bills have also faced the likes of Le’Veon Bell and Saquon Barkley early in the season. However, the Buffalo secondary has been excellent at locking down on receivers.
The Bills also have some capable pass rushers who can pressure opposing quarterbacks and force errant throws.
On the other side of the ball, the Buffalo offense made meaningful strides from Week 1 to Week 2. Quarterback Josh Allen avoided any turnovers in Week 2 and continues to have a good rapport with veteran receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley.
The Buffalo running game has also been fine without LeSean McCoy. Rookie Devin Singletary and the ageless Frank Gore are turning into a viable backfield tandem.
Of course, Allen also has the athleticism to scramble and pick up a few yards on the ground, which always helps.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills head-to-head
Bills fans will no doubt be delighted to welcome Andy Dalton and the Bengals to Buffalo. Dalton became a cult hero in Western New York after his game-winning touchdown pass against the Ravens in Week 17 of the 2017 season ended Buffalo’s epic playoff drought.
Dalton will no doubt receive a warm welcome from the Buffalo faithful. Of course, Dalton and the Bengals have gotten the better of the Bills during his time in Cincinnati.
The Bengals have won four of their last five head-to-head meetings with the Bills, including a pair of games in Buffalo in 2013 and 2015.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Week 3 Predictions
It’s still a little unusual to see the Bills favored, but it’s safe to say that Buffalo has at least an average team this season, possibly even playoff material.
Meanwhile, the Bengals looked absolutely atrocious last week. They can’t run the ball, they can’t protect Dalton, and they haven’t been that reliable on defense through two weeks.
With a young quarterback like Allen, you still worry about mistakes. But between Cincinnati’s problems and Buffalo’s strong defense, it’s okay to eat the points and bet on the Bills covering the 6-point spread.
