Philadelphia Eagles Predictions

The Eagles had started the season remarkably well by overcoming the Washington Redskins 32-27 in their opening game of the new season. However, they were brought back down to earth to a degree in their last outing against the Atlanta Falcons as they lost 24-20.

The Eagles paid for their slow start in the game, and despite coming on strong in the final two quarters, it was too little too late. Carson Wentz completed 231 passing yards and contributed to a touchdown, as Josh McCown also contributed to 40 passing yards.

Wentz scored a touchdown, and Nelson Agholor also scored one too. However, the start that the Eagles made always meant that they were chasing the game.

They will need to start the game against the Lions much quicker if they want to rectify their recent defeat.

Detroit Lions Predictions

Meanwhile, the Lions will go into the game in Philadelphia after winning their first game of the new season. They are also unbeaten in regular time this campaign after drawing their first game of the season 27-27 against the Arizona Cardinals.

This draw was backed up with a brilliant win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Detroit. The 13-10 win may not have been the most enthralling encounter, but it was an important win for the Lions.

Matthew Stafford assisted two touchdowns and recorded 245 passing yards. The touchdowns were scored by Kenny Golladay and Kerryon Johnson. Darius Slay was also in inspired form as he made one interception in the win.

Matt Prater also recorded one point from kicking for the Lions. Detroit will be looking for a stronger showing in the middle quarters against the Eagles, as they didn’t record a single point in the second or third quarters against the Chargers.

Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles head-to-head

This will be 34th meeting between the sides, and it’s the Eagles that hold the narrow advantage having won on 16 occasions.

The Lions have won on 15 occasions, and there have been two ties between the sides. They have also met once in the playoffs, and that game was won by the Eagles.

The last meeting between these sides came in 2016, and the thriller was won 24-23 by the Lions.

Philadelphia Eagles Team News

The Eagles will be without Corey Clement, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Nate Sudfeld. DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery and Dallas Goedert are all doubtful.

Detroit Lions Team News

Jarrad Davis, Taylor Decker, Da’Shawn Hand and Stefan McClure are all doubtful for the game in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Austin Bryant, Darius Kilgo and Jermaine Kearse all remain on injured reserve.

Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Week 3 Predictions

This could be a tight fixture between two sides that are evenly matched. It could be the case that home advantage will be the pivotal aspect of this matchup.
