Miami Dolphins Form

It was celebration time in South Beach last Sunday as the Miami Dolphins knocked off the visiting NY Jets, 26-18. They won as the 3.5-point home underdog to snap their 0-7 winless streak to start the season.

The victory was also Miami’s fourth-straight cover against the point spread. The offense seems to be rejuvenated with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick behind center.

“Fitz Magic” took over for previous starter Josh Rosen three weeks ago. With Rosen as the starter, Miami was averaging a paltry 8 points per game. However, over the last three weeks the team has scored 20.3 points per game.

They have been in position to win each of those games in the fourth quarter.

Fitzpatrick was at his best in the win over the Jets, completing 24 of 36 passes for 288 yards, three TDs, no interceptions and 118.7 passer rating.

The team also played its best defensive game against the Jets, limiting the visitors to just 271 total yards. But overall Miami has the 28th ranked defense in the NFL, giving up 32 points and 402 total yards per game.

Indianapolis Colts Form

The Colts dropped to 5-3 on the season last Sunday with a tough 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road as a 1-point underdog.

It was a bad day all around for Indy, which was already without All Pro WR TY Hilton. Then they saw starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett and starting center Ryan Kelly get knocked out of the game with injuries.

Even still, the Colts were in position to win the game in the final minutes. But future Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri shanked his field goal attempt from 43 yards out with 1:14 remaining.

Incredibly, all eight of Indy’s games this year have been decided by 7 points or less and four of them have been decided by three points or less.

Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer did a nice job filling in for Brissett. At this time of writing, it was not certain who would get the start on Sunday when the Dolphins come to town.

On defense, the Colts rank 14th in the league, giving up 21.1 points per game and 339 total yards per game. In the last four weeks, the team’s run defense has greatly improved. They are holding all four opponents to 130 yards or less on the ground.

Dolphins vs Colts Head-to-Head

These two AFC rivals have a long history that has been dominated by the Dolphins, who have won 47 of the 74 meetings.

However, the Colts have won four in a row, including last season when Indy prevailed, 27-24, as a nine-point home favorite.

Dolphins vs Colts NFL Week 10 Predictions

As mentioned, the Dolphins are on a point spread tear right now, covering four in a row. Fitzpatrick is definitely developing a chemistry with his wide receivers and continuing to take shots downfield.

With that said, taking the double digits is attractive here against a Colts team that must be running out of gas after playing eight straight one-score games.

Not to mention the fact that the injuries are starting to pile up. They’ll most likely have to start Hoyer, the 11-year journeyman QB who wasn’t even with the team during the preseason.

Indy seems to play down to the level of competition as it is 6-10 against the spread in its last 16 games against teams with a losing record, including 0-3 this year.
