Atlanta Falcons Predictions

The Falcons are coming off a win on Sunday Night Football vs the Eagles. They were pitiful on the road the Vikings in their Week 1 loss.

Atlanta have a solid QB in Matt Ryan who has 624 yards 5 TDs, and 5 INTs on the year. The running attack has yet to take off however.

Devonta Freeman and Ito Smith split time in the Atlanta backfield. Both guys are capable playmakers in space who catch the ball well as well.

The WR core for the Falcons is led by superstar Julio Jones. Julio is a beast and considered amongst the best WR in the league. His combination of size speed and phenomenal hands are supreme for almost every defensive back.

The Falcons look to Julio to move the chains and make plays when needed in the redzone. Calvin Ridley has stepped up as well and his off to a hot start with 170 yards and 2 TDs in two games.

Austin Hooper also opens up the middle of the field at the TE position for the offense. Defensively the Falcons have trouble in past covering the RB on pass routes.

They have a good LB in Deion Jones, a run stopper at DT in Grady Jarrett, and good edge rusher in Vic Beasley. Desmond Trufant, Ricardo Allen, Damontae Kazee, and Keanu Neal round out a good secondary.

The Falcons haven’t played great defensively yet and can be scored upon.

Indianapolis Colts Predictions

Indianapolis are coming off a big road win vs division foe Tennessee Titans. The Colts have played both games this season on the road and will be thrilled to be back at home this week for their home opener.

They could easily be 2-0 with Jacoby Brissett leading the offense. If usually reliable kicker Adam Vinatieri made some kicks the Colts would be looking really good. Vinatieri has missed 5 kicks in two games this year.

The Colts possess one of the best offensive lines in the league which provides Brissett enough time to operate in the pocket and get Marlon Mack holes to run.

Brissett has been very efficient this year with 5 TDs to 1 INT, Atlanta’s pass rush will be the weakest the Colts have faced this year so Brissett can be in line for a big performance.

Marlon Mack has not practiced yet this week and is questionable to play. Mack leads the league in rushing attempts thus far. Atlanta struggles against the RB in the passing game if Mack can’t play this will be a good spot for Jordan Wilkins and Nahiem Hines.

The Colts playmakers outside are TY Hilton who has 3 TDs this year. Hilton can expose this ATL secondary who struggled to cover Nelson Agholor last week and a depleted Eagle WR tandem.

The TEs for the Colts are capable playmakers and will be open in the middle of the field. The biggest issue for the Colts is the health of star MLB Darius Leonard.

Leonard is in concussion protocol and questionable to suit up. Without Leonard the Colts will be lacking a big time playmaker and sure tackler.

Falcons vs. Colts head-to-head

These teams last matched up in 2015 and the under talented Colts roster beat the Falcons in that game. Traditionally the Falcons haven’t been the same team on the road as they are at home.

Head Coach Dan Quinn is also 3-11 against the AFC since 2016. On the other end the Colts are 11-1 as favorites in their last 12.

Falcons vs. Colts NFL Week 3 Predictions

The Colts have a much better roster all around and have played very well without Luck this year and should be 2-0. Atlanta has too many holes on defense and the Colts will be able to move the ball and score.

With Darius Leonard active, we love the Colts in this matchup. Without him, we still think they are good enough to make plays and limit the Atlanta offense.

The Colts win their home opener and cover the 1.5 point spread.
