Giants vs Patriots Picks, NFL Predictions & Free Bets
We have Giants vs Patriots Picks, NFL Predictions & Free Bets for the Week 6 game at Gillette Stadium.
Week 6 of the NFL season gets started with a rematch of two of the more memorable Super Bowls in recent times between the New York Giants and New England Patriots.
The two teams will meet up again on Thursday, October 10 at 8:20 EST at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Early betting odds have the Patriots favored by 16.5 points at home with an over/under of 44.5 points.
New York Giants Form
More recently, the Giants saw their two-game winning streak snapped by a 28-10 home loss to the Vikings last weekend.
With multiple starters missing due to injury, the New York defense was gashed for nearly 500 yards while Daniel Jones had his first poor outing since assuming the starting duties from Eli Manning.
At 2-3, the Giants are still only one game off the pace in the NFC East with both the Cowboys and Eagles sitting at 3-2. However, that deficit could grow with road games against the Patriots and Lions before the end of the month.
Offensively, the Giants felt the absence of Saquon Barkley last week. It didn’t help that backup Wayne Gallman was knocked out of the game after just two carries because of a concussion.
The Giants tried to get creative but couldn’t muster much of a rushing attack. It seems likely that both Barkley and Gallman will be out on Thursday, shifting all of the pressure to Jones and the passing game.
With Golden Tate back in the fold and rookie Darius Slayton making an impact last week, Jones has plenty of capable targets at his disposal, as those two are joined by Evan Ingram and Sterling Shepard.
However, it’s still a lot of pressure on a rookie quarterback when he doesn’t have a suitable ground game as support.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants were hurt last week by nearly their entire linebacking corps missing due to injury. Of course, the New York defense hasn’t had much success all season against teams other than the Redskins.
Take away that game and the Giants are giving up 30.5 points per game on the season. On a short week, the Giants may not be able to rely on getting healthy before Thursday’s game.
New England Patriots Form
As for the Patriots, they are the only team in the NFL to sit at 5-0 through the first five weeks of the season after beating Washington 33-7 over the weekend.
Of course, three of the five teams the Patriots have beaten are still looking for their first win. Another team, the Steelers, sit at 1-4.
New England’s only true test of the season came against Buffalo in a game they were lucky to win, as they scored just one offensive touchdown. Nevertheless, the Patriots have proven that they can take care of business against weaker teams.
Outside of the game in Buffalo, Tom Brady has had the New England offense humming. He’s thrown 10 touchdown passes over five games with Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon emerging as his top targets.
Meanwhile, the running game has been solid and steady, averaging just under 100 yards per game and having one of its best performances of the season last week against Washington.
Again, it’s worth pointing out that the Patriots have done it primarily against weak competition.
The same can be said of the New England defense, which has been one of the best in the NFL. The Patriots have allowed a total of 34 points in five games.
Outside of facing Ben Roethlisberger in Week 1, the list of quarterbacks they’ve faced is as unimpressive as they get. However, the New England defense, much like the offense, has proven that they can get the job down against inferior opponents.
Giants vs Patriots Betting Trends

- Giants are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games.
- Underdog is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
Giants vs Patriots Head-to-Head
Oddly enough, those two Super Bowl meetings are just two of the 12 games the Giants and Patriots have played against one another outside of the preseason.
Both teams have won six games each, although the Giants win the tiebreaker by coming out on top with everything on the line.
They’ve only met once since their most recent Super Bowl, a 27-26 win for New England in the Meadowlands. The last time the Giants visited Foxboro, they came out on top 24-20, although that game was back in 2011.
Giants vs Patriots Picks
Do the Giants fall under the category of an inferior opponent? At this point, they probably do. If the banged-up New York defense couldn’t slow down Kirk Cousins last week, they don’t have much of a chance against Brady, especially on the road in a short week.
The 16.5-point spread is big, but the Patriots should be up for covering it on Thursday.
