NFL Season Predictions & Betting Preview – New York Giants
We take a look at the upcoming NFL season and provide our NFL Season Predictions & Betting Preview for the New York Giants.
The NFL season is fast approaching, and in preparation for the new campaign, we will be looking at some of the biggest teams and how they are shaping up for the 2019-20 season starting with the New York Giants.
This will be the second season at the helm for Pat Schumer, and he will be hoping for a much-improved effort from the last season. The Giants finished bottom of the NFC East for the second consecutive season, and that is only the second time that has happened.
This first time being in the 1977 and 1978 seasons. The only silver lining for them was their improved record of 5-11. The previous season they were only 3-13, which was their worst return in a 16-game regular season in the history of the franchise.
At least that was a progression, but there could be bleaker times ahead for the Giants, and their prospects for a Super Bowl appearance already look slim.

New York Giants Prospects
The loss of Odell Beckham to Cleveland and the ageing legs of Eli Manning means that something pretty remarkable has to come from one of their free-agent signings or one of the players that they have drafted.
Losing Beckham was telling and his departure will leave a gaping hole in their team. It has been a strange off-season indeed for the Giants. They have handed out new long-term deals to players such as Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard; both of these haven’t done a single thing worthy of note to deserve four-year deals.
Pundits predicted that they would stock up on draft picks via trade deals, but they didn’t. They have brought in Daniel Jones, Deandre Baker and Dexter Lawrence from the draft. The Baker move was a shock to many, as they believed the cornerback was strange 30th pick. Much will depend on Jones and his transition into the NFL will be crucial.
New York Giants Optimism
While the record last season wasn’t pretty on paper; they actually weren’t as bad as many believed. The Giants were still ranked at number 15 on the metrics, and they finished eleventh in most stats such as yards per pass and yards allowed per run.
Surprisingly, the Giants scored more points than any other team in the NFC East. Of their losses; eight of them were by one touchdown or less. It has been argued that they were underrated last season, since after a difficult opening eight matches; they went 4-4.
I mean, underrated is a push, but they definitely outperformed what they got on the standings.
New York Giants Predictions
There doesn’t seem to be a safe middle ground concerning the Giants. It’s either going to be good, or they are going to be very bad.
Much of that will depend on the quarterback situation. If Manning can play at his 2018 level, then that would be encouraging, while if he is injured, then it could be a bit too soon for Jones and could be a disaster.
Meanwhile, offensively, they look okay, but they are suspect in defence. They are in desperate need of a pass rusher, but a solid unit could make up for that.
A lot of the possibilities are dependent, but it seems that the positives would need a lot of reasoning and luck to go their way and push the Giants to a playoff place. They will be better than last season, but only just.
