Steelers vs Browns Predictions & NFL Week 11 Picks

The suddenly red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the playoff hunt following a four-game winning streak.

They and look to keep it going on Thursday Night Football when they travel to Cleveland for an AFC North battle.

Kickoff will be at 8:20 P.M. EST on Thursday, Nov. 14. The current betting odds have Cleveland as a 3-point favorite with an over/under of 40 points.

Pittsburgh Steelers Form

The Steel Curtain defense has returned to Pittsburgh, where the Steelers have survived a 1-4 start. They also survived loss of their starting QB for the season to climb back into the discussion for an NFL playoff bid and perhaps a divisional title.

Since sending a 2020 first-round draft pick to Miami in mid-September in exchange for defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Pittsburgh defense has been outstanding.

They are holding its last six opponents to an average of 16 points per game. None of those six opponents have topped 260 passing yards in a game and only two of them managed to run for more than 90 yards.

The Steelers have certainly needed the defense to be at its best because the banged-up offense has been sluggish. During Sunday’s 17-12 win over the Rams as a 4-point home underdog, the defense scored one of the touchdowns.

The offense once again struggled to move the ball, managing just 273 yards while playing with a shuffled offensive line. Pitt had starting running backs James Conner and Benny Snell Jr. both sidelined with injuries.

Back-up QB Mason Rudolph was unspectacular, yet efficient, once again, finishing 22 of 38 for 242 yards. His first quarter TD pass made him the ninth quarterback since the 1970 merger to throw a touchdown pass in each of his first seven games.

The Steelers rank 28th in the NFL in total offense and with 21.4 points per game they are ranked 19th in scoring offense.

Cleveland Browns Form

The Browns got a monster win last Sunday, beating visiting Buffalo, 19-16, as a three-point home favorite. The win snapped a brutal four-game losing streak for Cleveland.

They came into the season with high expectations, but enters NFL Week 11 with just three wins.

The sputtering offense continues to be a concern, as it has averaged just 16 points in its last six games. On Sunday, the Brownies put up 368 yards of offense, but red zone play calling remains a major problem for the team.

They had 12 plays inside the five-yard line on Sunday and came away with just three points.

The defense has been average at best, ranking 17th in total defense while allowing 356 yards per game.

The pass defense has been a strength as it ranks 7th in the league, giving up 221 yards per game. The rush defense, however, has struggled mightily, ranking 27th in the NFL while allowing 131 yards per game.

However, it has improved in recent weeks, holding its last three opponents to an average of 96.6 rushing yards per game.

Steelers vs Browns Head-to-Head

The Steelers have had great success in the series with the Browns in recent years, going 5-0-1 straight up in the last six meetings. But, they are just 2-3-1 against the spread in those games. Four of the games were decided by four points or less, including a tie.

Last year, Pittsburgh rolled to a 33-18 victory at home as an 8-point chalk and the teams tied 21-21 in Cleveland in a game the Steelers were listed as a 3-point favorite.

Steelers vs Browns Predictions

With two sputtering offenses and two struggling QBs playing on a short week of preparation, we’ll call for a low-scoring game on Thursday night.

These are also two of the worst red zone offenses in the league. The Browns are 26th in the league, scoring just 46% of the time. While the Steelers are even worse, ranking 28th in the league while scoring just 39% of the time.

The Steelers have also been an under machine on the road in recent years, going under the total in 15 of their last 18 games away from home. That includes all three road games this season, while Cleveland has gone under in 12 of its last 18 home games.
