Tampa Bay Buccaneers Form

While they’ve shown flashes of brilliance, the results have not been good for the 2-5 Bucs. They limp into Seattle losers of three straight games and four of their last five.

After starting 1-2, Tampa Bay pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season in Week 4 when it went to LA and beat the Rams as a 9-point dog in a wild 55-40 shootout.

But since then there have been close losses to New Orleans, Carolina and Tennessee.

All three games were winnable for the Bucs, with the setbacks to the Saints and Titans coming by less than one score, but nine turnovers have proved costly.

Also, the officials certainly didn’t help the Bucs last week against Tennessee when a bad call disallowed a game winning scoop-and-score. The league has since apologized for that error.

Tampa Bay, which has lost 18 of its last 22 on the road, has the fifth-highest scoring offense in the league. They average 28 points per game and is ranked 15th in total offense with 378 yards per game, including the ninth-best passing attack.

But once again, a -9 turnover margin this season has killed the Bucs again and again.

Defensively, five of Tampa Bay’s seven opponents have scored 30 points or more and the Bucs rank 30th in the league in scoring defense (30.3 points per game). They’re 18th in total defense (461 yards per game).

Seattle Seahawks Form

The Seahawks have feasted on losing teams this season, going 5-0, including last week’s 27-20 road win over the Falcons as a 7-point favorite.

But a look inside the numbers show this wasn’t an impressive win. The Falcons were playing with a back-up QB and still managed to outgain Seattle by nearly 200 yards.

Despite six wins, the team ranks just 20th in the league in scoring defense (24.5 points per game) and 23rd in total defense (376 yards per game). That has come against the sixth-easiest schedule of passing offenses.

Offensively, the Seahawks have an MVP candidate in Russell Wilson, but rank as just the 11th-best scoring offense at 26 points per game.

Tampa Bay vs Seattle Seahawks Head-to-Head

These two teams have only played 13 times in history and just three times in the last seven seasons.

Seattle has won eight of the 13 meetings, but lost the last time they played back in 2016 when Tampa Bays scored a 14-5 win as a 5-point home dog.

Tampa Bay vs Seattle Seahawks Predictions

As bad as Tampa’s results have been the last three weeks, we can’t help but worry about the Seahawks being a bit overrated.

Last week was the second time Seattle managed to win a game when they were badly outgained. For the season, it is only 23rd in the league in net yards per play at -0.3.

From an Xs and Os standpoint, this is a great matchup for the underdog Bucs, whose rush defense should stand up to Seattle’s run-first attack.

Their at-times powerful passing game should have success against a Seahawks defense that has allowed an average of 30 points per game. That stat has come against the three best passing offenses it has faced this season.

And while Seattle and its “12th Man” fan base are known to have one of the best home field advantages in the NFL, the Seahawks are just 4-10 against the spread as a home favorite the last three seasons, including 0-4 this year.
