Texans vs Chiefs Betting Tips, NFL Picks & NFL Free Bets
We have Texans vs Chiefs Betting Tips, NFL Picks & NFL Free Bets for the game on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Kansas City.
After getting stunned by the Colts on Sunday Night Football, a banged up Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs host the surging Houston Texans in Week 6.
Kickoff will be at 1 P.M. EST on Sunday, October 13. The current betting odds have the Chiefs as a 4-point favorite with an over/under of 55.
Houston Texans Form
The primary question after the Texans’ impressive 53-23 rout of the Atlanta Falcons last week is just how good is Houston QB DeShaun Watson?
The former Clemson All American isn’t really mentioned as one of the elite QBs in the league. However, he proved last week that when given proper protection he is one of the most exciting players in the league.
It’s no coincidence that Watson had the best game of his career last week. He threw for 426 yards and five TD passes. That was just the second game in 28 career starts that he wasn’t sacked.
That said, the results for the Texans since he took over the starting job two years ago have been wildly inconsistent. That goes for this season as the team is just 3-2.
After a sluggish start, the Texans defense is starting to play much better. They have held its last three opponents to 94 yards or less on the ground.
Kansas City Chiefs Form
Wow, talk about a change in narrative.
After three weeks of the season, the high-flying Chiefs were 3-0 both against the spread and straight up.
QB Patrick Mahomes was not only on his way to another MVP but he was a sure-fire Hall of Famer.
The Chiefs and Patriots were the class of the league and it was just a formality that the two would face off in January for the AFC Championship.
But then Kansas City narrowly escaped Detroit with a 34-30 win and failed to cover the spread.
Then last week in the upset of the NFL season, KC got upset at home the 19-13 as an 11-point chalk. And now its all doomsday coming out of Arrowhead.
Yes, there should be concern for Chiefs fans, most notably the health of Mahomes. The reigning MVP has been playing with a bum ankle and it has most definitely affected him.
And he’s far from the lone key player on the injury list, as the offensive line is also hurting and star WR Tyreek Hill has missed time.
Through it all, the Chiefs still rank No. 5 in the league in total offense, No. 4 in points scored and No. 1 in passing yards per game.
The defensive line has been hampered by injuries, but still managed to hold the Colts to under 19 points last week.
Even still, this unit has struggled big time this season stopping the run and ranks 30th in the league in rush defense.
Texans vs Chiefs Head-to-Head
Not much recent history to report between these two teams.
The last meeting came in 2017 when Kansas City traveled to the Lone Star State and beat the Texans, 42-24, as a two-point favorite.
Texans vs Chiefs Betting Tips
Mahomes’ ankle and the offensive line injuries for the Chiefs are a concern. However, this pointspread is simply too cheap for us to pass by the window and not bet KC.
One week ago, the look-ahead line on this game had the Chiefs listed as a 8.5-favorite. Toss in last week’s results and there has been a huge overreaction as this line has dropped more than four points.
Take away last week’s games and what we know is that the Texans are one of the most inconsistent teams in the league coming off one of the best performances in franchise history.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are still one of the Super Bowl favorites and still possess one of the best home field advantages in the league.
A factor that is even better when they are favored by 7 points or less (10-4 against the spread the last three years).
If Mahomes is anywhere near 100% healthy, this is the best value play of the week in the NFL and we’re willing to take a gamble to find out.
