Philadelphia Eagles Form

The Eagles have enjoyed a similar pre-season to their rivals as they have won once throughout their fixtures. But it could be argued that even in that success against the Jacksonville Jaguars there would still be as many negatives as positives.

The two defeats that they have endured during pre-season have come against the Titans and the Ravens, and both saw them conceded over 20 points. Even in their victory over the Eagles, they conceded ten points which would be a cause for concern for Doug Pederson.

However, Pederson would have been pleased with their performance in the second and third quarters as they scored seven points in both. Gardner Minchew was impressive in this warm-up game as he completed 202 passing yards, and could have an outside chance of starting the first game of the season.

Picasso Nelson Jr and Alex McGough scored the touchdowns in this win.

Washington Redskins Form

The Redskins have endured a difficult pre-season schedule, and their one win in that run came against the Atlanta Falcons.

Like the Eagles, they have also had a problem with giving away points to easily, but there were signs that they had improved on this front in their recent success over the Falcons.

Prior to that game, they had conceded 53 points in two games against the Bengals and Browns. The 19-7 success against the Falcons was undoubtedly their most complete performance to date, and Jay Gruden would have understandably been pleased with his defensive players.

The Redskins were consistent throughout the game in their scoring and scored at least three points in each of the four quarters. However, neither of the team’s quarterbacks scored more than 100 passing yards in the fixture, and that will need to be something that improves as the season kicks off.

The only touchdown in the game was scored by Ito Smith in the third quarter.

Both of these sides match up closely, and this should be a close encounter with neither side offering much for their opponent to play off.
