The Golden Knights were only down 1-0 after the first period in the Game 1 5-2 loss to the Sharks, but then gave up two goals in the first eight minutes of the 2nd period to get in a 3-1 hole.
Mark Stone scored both of the Vegas goals and Max Pacioretty had two assists. Marc-Andre Fleury (35-21-5 2.51 GAA) took the loss and he has not been in top form, as Vegas also lost his last two starts of the regular season where he gave up four goals in each game.
Jonathan Marchessault led the Golden Knights this season in points, goals, and assists and was held without a point in the Game 1 loss and has one goal and two assists in his last six games.
Vegas has lost their last five road games.
San Jose Sharks Form
The Sharks took control early in the Game 1 win and they had great balance in the game with five different players scoring a goal. Joe Pavelski scored one of the goals after getting stitches on his mouth and chin and losing a couple of teeth after taking a shot to the face from teammate Brett Burns, who scored a goal and notched an assist.
Martin Jones (36-19-5 2.94 GAA) got the win and he has given up two goals in each of his last two starts.
On the season four players for San Jose have at least 30 goals led by Pavelski, who has two goals in his last six games.
Burns leads the team in points and assists and he has four goals and two assists in his last six games.
