The NHL season has begun and we have Sabres vs Canadiens Picks,NHL Predictions & Free NHL Bets available.
The NHL season is gearing up to be one of the most competitive in recent seasons, and there are at least five sides that are hoping to challenge for the NHL playoff places.
Two of those sides will meet on Wednesday evening with both having contrasting starts to the new season.
Buffalo Sabres Form
The Buffalo Sabres may be one of the dark horse picks to go all the way in this season’s NHL. They had started the season in brilliant form, before ultimately falling in their most recent game against the Blue Jackets.
They have been free-scoring all season so far, however, and have registered 13 goals in their three games. The 4-3 defeat against the Blue Jackets was one which could have easily gone either way.
The Blue Jackets caught the Sabres napping in the first quarter by scoring two unanswered goals before the Sabres came to life in the second. They pulled the scores level in the second before both sides scored in the third.
Ultimately, it was overtime that was to be the Sabres undoing, but there was nothing wrong with their performance levels.
Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens have endured a turbulent beginning to the season and have won one of their first two outings this campaign.
On the opening day, they fell to the Hurricanes 4-3 after being defeated in the shootout, and it was more of the same in the second match as they eventually overcame the second-favourites to win the Stanley Cup in the Toronto Maple Leafs in the shootout.
They more than held their own in that recent outing as they remarkably scored four in the final period to level up the scorelines and force overtime.
Much was made of the Leafs throwing away their lead, but the Canadiens were brilliant, and that third period was the NHL at its very best. Fans will be hoping for more of the same in Buffalo.
Sabres vs Canadiens Head-to-Head
The Buffalo Sabres hold the advantage in the overall records between the sides, having won on 44 occasions.
The Canadiens have won on 38 occasions. Buffalo has won ten times after the game has gone to OT while Montreal have won five times from the same position.
The Sabres average 2.6 goals per game, while the Canadiens average 2.7 goals per game in this fixture, so it should be a high scoring affair.
Buffalo Sabres Team News
The Sabres will be without Pekka Luukkonen, Matt Hunwick, Zach Bogosian and Brandon Montour for their clash with the Canadiens.
Montreal Canadiens Team News
The Canadiens will be without Michael McCarron, Noah Juulsen and Nick Cousins for the match in Buffalo.
Sabres vs Canadiens Picks
This will be an entertaining match for the neutrals will both sides having an undoubted attacking threat.
There will be goals in this game, but the likely winners will be the home side to continue their fine start to the new NHL season.
However, it will be a match that could go either way, and the one that starts best will likely be the winners.
