Aston Villa Predictions

Aston Villa have endured a difficult return to the top flight, and home form will be particularly vital for Dean Smith and his team.

They have only won once so far this season, and that came in their last outing at Villa Park against Everton. Smith’s side rode their luck throughout but took the lead before the breakthrough new signing Wesley.

Before the match, the Brazilian had been criticised by fans for his lack of scoring ability, but the new striker firmly answered any questions about his ability.

The Villa doubled their lead with the last kick of the game through Anwar El Ghazi. Last time out, the Villa were hugely unfortunate not to have left Selhurst Park with a point.

Jordan Ayew put the hosts ahead, but Villa were cruelly disallowed the equaliser in the last minute when the referee adjudged Jack Grealish of diving. However, video replays showed that the Villa captain had been pushed in the back before passing to Henri Lansbury to find the back of the net.

VAR couldn’t intervene as the referee had already blown the whistle. Smith revealed afterwards that he felt that his side had been robbed of a deserved point.

His argument was valid, but they need to get back on the right track against the Hammers; otherwise, they could conclude the weekend at the bottom of the table.

West Ham Predictions

The Hammers meanwhile have enjoyed a much better start to the season than they did last year. They have won two straight games, and Sebastian Haller is already looking like a fan-favourite.

The striker was brought in for a club-record fee over the summer from Frankfurt, and he has scored three goals in their last two fixtures. His brace on his league debut against Watford was the perfect introduction to the fans.

Andriy Yarmolenko has quickly re-accustomed to the Premier League after picking up an injury last season and was on the score-sheet in their recent 2-0 win over Norwich City.

Manuel Pellegrino has reiterated that his side is hoping for a top-half finish, but if they continue in this form, then they could have serious hopes of finishing in the top six.

Aston Villa vs. West Ham head-to-head

West Ham holds the narrow advantage in the overall record between the sides having won on 40 occasions. Villa have won 38 times, and there have been 32 draws.

The last meeting between the teams came in 2016 and ended in a 2-0 win for the Hammers.

Aston Villa Team News

The home side will be without Trezeguet who serves the first of his two-match ban. Matthew Targett also misses out, but James Chester could be back on the bench.

West Ham Team News

Michail Antonio and Winston Reid both remain out for the Hammers.

Aston Villa vs. West Ham United EPL Predictions

Home form will be crucial to Villa in maintaining their Premier League status. However, their defensive record is poor, and West Ham have players in the attacking third that could harm the home side.
