Champions League – Juventus vs Ajax

Tottenham Hotspur vs Ajax

Ajax will be hoping that they can complete a famous double of knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League, when they travel to Turin to take on the runaway Serie A leaders.

Juventus vs Ajax Preview

The first leg between the pair in Amsterdam flew under the radar due to the amount of the high-quality sides left in the competition. However, it was one of the most watchable games of football of the entire round.

Both goals were scored within minutes either side of half time. Juventus took the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo produced a magnificent header from a pinpoint cross. His header was directed into the bottom right-hand corner, and the Ajax goalkeeper was left helpless.

The Dutch giants equalised with seconds of the second half when David Neres burst clear of the ageing Juventus defence before firing into the Italians net.

Ajax will claim that they had the best chances in the second half and were unlucky not to come away with the win. However, they will be well aware that they have the ability within their squad to produce a memorable victory.

Of course, the added element of interest in this Ajax team is that this will likely be their only chance to win the Champions League with these players as the squad will be ripped apart over the summer.

Frenkie De Jong is already departing to joining Barcelona, while Matthijs De Ligt is likely to follow him out of the Amsterdam Arena. The central defender is a target for Juventus and could replace Georgio Chiellini who won’t be fit to play a part in the second leg.

Neres could be another player that departs the club, with the talented winger highly regarded by Europe’s elite.

Juventus brought big in the summer to make their mark in this competition; with the notable addition of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international has already played his part in helping his team get to this stage, as Juve were on the brink of being knocked out in the last round after losing 2-0 in the first leg against Atletico Madrid.

However, Ronaldo netted a hat-trick in the second leg to show his worth. It seems like the stage is set once again for Ronaldo’s love affair with this competition to continue.

The matchup between Ronaldo and De Ligt is an exciting element to a fascinating game, and it will be interesting to see how the young Dutch defender performs against one of the best goalscorers of all time.

Juventus vs Ajax Tips

This is an intriguing matchup between two teams with contrasting styles. The young and vibrant Ajax will be hoping their pace can out-do the professionalism and efficiency of Juventus.

It’s hard to see Ronaldo not stamping his name all over this fixture, and he could easily score twice in a Juventus 2-1 win, but by no means will Ajax be disgraced on their trip to Turin.

Tip: Juventus to win 2-1 and Cristiano Ronaldo to score.
