English Premier League Football – Sunday Tips

EPL Betting Tips

English Premier League Football is a premier competition and there’s a massive double-header this Sunday. We have soccer tips for both games.

The Premier League reaches a critical stage this coming weekend, as both Manchester City and Liverpool play on the same day; just hours apart from each other. City are up first and could pull away with a win at Crystal Palace, before Liverpool host Chelsea.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Preview

Palace will be looking for an unlikely double over City when they travel to Selhurst Park looking to go five points clear ahead of Liverpool’s game on Super Sunday. Palace shocked City at the Etihad in December when they became the first team to beat Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad this season.

Roy Hodgson called it a ‘bonanza day’ of Premier League action, and at the time it allowed Liverpool to go seven points clear.

However, City have managed to pull that gap back and take them over; after a run over eight league wins in a row; while also battling on two other fronts in the FA Cup and Champions League.

City did look somewhat fatigued in their last outing as they lost their first game in 14 at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. Guardiola’s team didn’t look at their flowing best and looked leggy in the midfield of the field as Spurs overpowered them.

This will need to change if City are going to keep the advantage in the title race. At this critical point if City were to lose at Palace, then it could be almost over.

The key thing that has gone in their favour all season has been momentum. It could be argued that the talk about the quadruple has affected their mindset, but Guardiola’s aim at the beginning of the season would have been to become the first team since 2009 to win back-to-back titles.

If that’s going to happen, they will need to win this fixture, and use it as a springboard for their upcoming league fixtures against Spurs and Manchester United.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Preview

If City falters in the early kick-off, then the Red’s could take full advantage and exercise some demons in the process. It was this exact fixture five years ago that derailed Liverpool’s title bid, as a Jose Mourinho masterclass handed a 2-0 win to the visitors and effectively the title to City.

This is a different Liverpool side, but that memory still lingers which means it will be a nervy Anfield on Sunday afternoon, and that won’t be helped if City win and Liverpool start slow.

Chelsea come into the fixture still fighting for a top-four place but may have one eye on the Europa League as a route into the competition.

The battle for the top four will go down to the wire and Chelsea could use this as an opportunity to either put down a marker for their route; either play a weakened side to signal they are prioritising the Europa League, or play a full-strength team and signal that they want to finish in the top four.

Either way, this won’t be a comfortable afternoon for the Blues; who have looked weak on the road this season.

It will be a fascinating game either way and will be made even more interesting by the result in the earlier game. If Liverpool are going to win their maiden Premier League title, then, either way, they can’t afford to lose.

EPL Sunday Tips

This weekend is going to be the narrative that this title race revolves around come the end of the season. If City win and Liverpool lose then, it will be the case of history repeating itself, while if City lose and Liverpool win then it will be vindication for the Red’s.

It will be a tense afternoon of high-quality action; the dynamic that makes the Premier League so unique in world football.

Tip: Crystal Palace to win or draw (double chance) and Liverpool to win.
