Manchester City Form

Pep Guardiola’s side got back to winning ways on their last outing in the Premier League as they beat Bournemouth 3-1 at the Vitality.

This came after they had lost their 100% record on the previous weekend against Tottenham Hotspur. However, Guardiola has installed a mentality in this City side that don’t rest on their laurels, and they go out to win every match they are involved in.

City took a stronghold on the game against the Cherries with two first-half strikes from Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling. However, a superb free-kick from Harry Wilson before the break meant that there was still work to be done by the Citizens.

City was efficient in their job in the second period and suffocated Bournemouth with their possession. They restored their two-goal advantage when Aguero netted his second of the game midway through the half.

It seems impossible to see this City side losing more ground on the top of the league, and Brighton will be aware of the threat that they pose.

Brighton & Hove Albion Form

The Seagulls will go into the game having lost for the first time this season against Southampton. Florin Andone was sent off in the first half against the Saints and undoubtedly played its part in their game plan falling apart.

Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond found the net in the second period to condemn them to defeat, but there will still be positives for Graham Potter to take out of the defeat.

Brighton have already showcased their new tactics this season, with Potter keen for the Seagulls to take the initiative in games rather than the passive approach which was deployed last season under Chris Houghton. They are certainly a better team this season, but it’s unlikely that they will be able to go toe-to-toe with City.

Manchester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion head-to-head

This will only be the 23rd meeting between these sides, and City holds the clear advantage having won on 13 occasions compared to Brighton’s five.

There have also been four draws between the sides. The last meeting between the teams was the game when City clinched the title on the last day of the previous season.

That 4-1 victory for the Citizens was the fifth straight win for City, while Brighton’s last victory in this fixture came in a League Cup tie in 2008.

Manchester City Team News

Benjamin Mendy could return for City, while Gabriel Jesus and John Stones have joined Leroy sane on the treatment table.

Brighton Team News

Andone will be missing for the Seagulls as he begins his suspension, while Yves Bissouma and Jose Izquierdo also remain out.

Manchester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion EPL Predictions

City will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Etihad, and there isn’t any reason why they won’t win this game comfortably.

The form of Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling means that they pose a clear goalscoring threat, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them both get on the score sheet against Brighton.
