Manchester City Form

Manchester City have started the season excellently, and Pep Guardiola seems already destined to ensure that his side doesn’t get complacent in their quest for a record-equally third Premier League title on the bounce.

The Citizens opened their campaign with a ruthless demonstration of their full abilities away at West Ham United, as they ran rampant in their 5-0 win.

Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick in their opener, while there were also goals from Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. Guardiola would have been most pleased with the return to full fitness in the league of Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium midfielder was integral in their title-winning campaign in 2017-18 but was injury-plagued throughout last season. A fully fit De Bruyne in this near-perfect City side is a scary prospect for all other 19 teams in the Premier League.

Tottenham Form

Tottenham also started their campaign with a win, but it wasn’t as impressive as City’s. Spurs went behind after an early goal from John McGinn and had to rely on the introduction of Christian Eriksen for the creativity that the side were missing against Aston Villa.

However, within moments of the Dane arriving on the field, the home side were level after a brilliantly taken debut goal from Tanguy Ndombele. From there, it only seemed a matter of time before Spurs got their noses ahead, and that came when Harry Kane fired home in the 86th minute.

Kane later added a third to make sure of the points, and the Englishman’s hoodoo of not scoring in August is certainly a thing of the past.

Spurs will have to be much better than they were on the opening day if they have any hope of getting anything at the Etihad.

Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur head-to-head

Both sides are very evenly matched in the overall record. City have won on 63 occasions, while Tottenham have recorded 61 wins. They have also been 35 draws between the sides.

The two teams met four times last season, and City won three of those; including the 4-3 success which wasn’t enough to get them past Spurs in the Champions League.

Tottenham’s record at the Etihad is abysmal, as they have only won there twice in the past nine years, and on these visits, they have conceded a total of 28 goals, which means they concede an average of 2.9 goals per game on their visits to the Etihad.

Manchester City Team News

Benjamin Mendy returned to training for City, but he won’t be risked for this fixture. Leroy Sane remains out, and won’t be expected to return until late March.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Heung-Min Son and Juan Foyth will both be missing for Spurs after being sent off at the end of last season. Dele Alli will also miss out through injury.

Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur EPL Predictions

This should be a high-quality match between two sides who are both very good in the attacking areas. City have had a stranglehold on this fixture over the past nine years and coupled with Tottenham’s defensive issues; it is hard to look past a convincing win for Pep Guardiola’s side here.
