Liz Carmouche defeated Shevchenko went they met in a promotional fight in 2010, but there’s plenty of water under the bridge since then.

Featuring on the UFC Fight Night 156 card is Luque vs Perry and Viera vs Pierchota, which should bring some excitement to the Uruguayan crowd.

Shevchenko vs Carmouche: Fight Night 156 Preview

UFC fans have been waiting for this fight for some time. Valentina Shevchenko is one of the more dynamic fighters in the UFC but she’s also one of the most fun.

The 17-3 fighter and title holder is coming off a knockout win over Jessica Eye at UFC 238. That was a statement win for the Kyrgyzstan fighter and it firmly put her on the map.

She fought only once in 2018, when she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk, mostly due to fight cancellations. Her most recent loss came in 2017 to Amanda Nunes and she didn’t lose any admirers with that performance.

It came in the bantamweight division and she’s one of only a few fighters to push Amanda Nunes to a decision victory.

Standing in her way of defending the belt is Liz Carmouche, who is 13-6 overall. The 35-year-old Louisiana native has been looking to gain traction as a UFC headliner but she’s just struggling to rise to the next level.

Carmouche enters this fight having scored a decision win over 8-4 Lucie Pudilova. A knockout win was expected but she came up short.

Anything less than her best won’t be enough to score an upset win over Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Fight Night 156.

Shevchenko vs Carmouche: Fight Night 156 Predictions

Bovada has Valentina Shevchenko as the –1000 favorite. That’s one of the shortest favorites in UFC history and it is tough to disagree with the bookmakers.

Shevchenko is the headline act of Fight Night 156 and we can’t see her getting beaten. Bettors will have to take the short odds on offer but our Fight Night 156 Predictions see the title holder scoring a comfortable victory.

Luque vs Perry: Fight Night 156 Preview

The co-main even of Fight Night 156 is Vicente Luque vs Mike Perry and there shouldn’t be much between them.

Luque is a 16-6-1 fighter who is coming off two impressive finishes. He scored a third-round knockout victory over Bryan Barberena in February and his next win was more impressive.

He knocked out Derrick Krantz in Round 1 at Night Fight 152 and that was his ninth win via knockout.

It bodes well against Mike Perry, who is more of a submission/decision win kind of guy. Perry’s last three wins have come via decision and that includes a big scalp of Alex Oliveira at Fight Night 150.

We’re not saying that Perry doesn’t have knockout power, because he showed that against Jake Ellenberger in 2017, but that was over two years ago.

Perry is a respectable 13-4, so he must be considered as a winning hope here.

Luque vs Perry: Fight Night 156 Predictions

Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque is tops our Fight Night 156 Predictions on August 11.

The 27-year-old is making his way through the welterweight division and a win over Mike Perry would cement his position.

This will be his toughest test in 2019 but we think he’ll come through with flying colors and record another knockout victory.
