UFC on ESPN 3 Predictions – Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou remains one of the scariest athletes in the whole of UFC. The MMA world has undoubtedly benefited from his failed NFL career and his turn to boxing.

Within two years of taking up boxing, he was signed to UFC. As soon as he stepped foot in the octagon, there was a sense that this could be a man to take the heavyweight scene to a new level; with improvements in every fight that he was in.

On his debut against Luis Henrique Barbosa de Oliveria, he showed that there was more to his game as he recovered well to deliver the brutal knockout blow.

Memorable knockouts against Curtin Blaydes and Alistair Overeem followed, and he began 2018 as the fighter that seemed to smell like money to Dana White.

However, 2018 didn’t deliver as much as it was promised to. He lost a one-sided title fight against Stipe Miocic before a horrific encounter with Derrick Lewis ended in defeat.

The entertainment level of the latter threatened to derail his career as jeers were ringing around the arena as the match that felt more like staring contest finally ended.

Ngannou’s defence and ability to throw punches in these two bouts were contrasting to what we had seen in the year prior and that was ultimately disappointing. Suddenly there were two defeats on his record, however, wins over Curtin Blaydes and Cain Velasquez have put him firmly back in with a title chance if he can overcome dos Santos.

UFC on ESPN 3 Predictions – Junior dos Santos

Injuries have taken their toll of dos Santos as he was limited to one fight a year between 2014 and 2017. However, since he dropped a title fight against Miocic in 2017, he has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance.

Since that defeat he has beaten Blagoy Ivanov, Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis; with the latter of those coming by way of a brutal knockout in the second round.

The matchup against Ngannou will test his resolve and will finally answer the question of whether he is reaching the levels that we have become accustomed to. There isn’t as much snap on the punches any more from the Brazilian, and he still manages to get himself into trouble during fights.

The heavyweight is strange place in the UFC at present, and a win here would put him back in line for a potential title fight soon.

There is so much on the line for both fighters, and it will be thrilling to see which way it goes.

UFC on ESPN 3 Predictions – Ngannou vs dos Santos

Our UFC on ESPN 3 Predictions & Picks are seeing a Frances Ngannou victory.

This will be an absorbing fight. Dos Santos is still a high-calibre fighter, but he is older, slower and the fact that Ngannou has managed to finish off opponents past their prime off in emphatic fashion all point to one winner.

However, there is a possibility that the Brazilian approaches the fight the same way as he did in his recent victories and coast. It does seem extremely unlikely, however, and that’s why it will be a comprehensive victory for Ngannou.
