CFL Predictions, Preview & Picks – Ottawa Redblacks vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers
We have CFL Predictions for the Ottawa Redblacks vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers game this Friday.
It should be a thrilling weekend in the CFL with two unbeaten sides going head to head; with one team having to lose their perfect record. The Redblacks have been in tremendous form, as have the Blue Bombers; but this will be the biggest test for either side thus far.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers Form
Winnipeg come into the game having possibly discovered their threat from deep in Lucky Whitehead. The receiver has impressed throughout the summer and was finally given his first taste of CFL action against the Eskimos.
The 27-year-old didn’t disappoint, and he caught seven passes and scoring two touchdowns. He also accounted for 78% of Matt Nichols’ 200 yard passes during the game. Nichols is ranked eighth overall in passing yards after the first two games, while his six touchdown passes is level as the most with Trevor Harris.
The Blue Bombers are in excellent form at the moment, and they are averaging over 30 points per game. Meanwhile, defensively, they are sound. They have only allowed 22 points so far this season, and that ties them with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the fewest. Winnipeg’s fixture against the Redblacks is the first of their five consecutive games against Eastern opposition.
Ottawa Redblacks Form
Meanwhile, the Redblacks are coming off a bye from week three with a two-match winning run. Their early season has been somewhat surprising but welcoming nonetheless.
Their main strength is in the offence, and they have totalled 76 points already in their first two games. Although they score 38 points per game, there are still slight concerns over their defence; which has already allowed 69 points to be scored against them.
The match could be a shootout with the Bombers defence against the Redblacks attack, but it will be essential viewing.
Ottawa began the season with plenty of question marks hanging over them. This included the worries surrounding Dominique Davis. This CFL season marks the fourth of his career, but he has only made two starts over that period.
However, he has already equalled that record this campaign and threw 630 yards and three touchdowns. It has been a renaissance. Last time out he was named as the top performer after going 30-for-39. His chemistry with Dominique Rhymes is terrific to see, and Rhymes totalled 168 yards receiving in his last outing for the Redblacks.
Mossis Madu Jr still emphasises the energy in the team. He has already recorded 38 carries in his first two games of this CFL season, and those numbers will continue to grow as the season rolls on. It could be a thrilling encounter between these two sides, but something will have to give.
CFL Predictions – Ottawa Redblacks vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers
This should be an interesting matchup between two sides that are very evenly matched on paper. The confidence in both camps will be high, but it’s difficult to ignore the fact that the Redblacks are allowing an average of 34.5 points per game.
This could be their eventual downfall against the Blue Bombers, as Winnipeg are a much slicker unit and will hold on for the win.
