PBA Preview – TNT Form
TNT have started the season brilliantly; having won seven of their previous eight fixtures and have all the hallmarks of potential champions for the coming season.
This run of form has included four wins on the bounce with victories over the Phoenix Fuelmaaster, San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Most recently they enjoyed a thrilling 104-109 victory over the Meralco Bolt.
Terrence Jones has been the shining light for the team so far this campaign and has averaged 33.86 points per game.
Jones’s skills were on full display last time out as he led his side with 49 points. Meanwhile, there were also double figures for Ryan Reyes, Don Trollano and Troy Rosario. Brian Heruela and Jones led the team with four assists each in their commanding win and will be hoping to inflict more damage against the Columbians on Friday evening.
PBA Preview – Columbian Form
Meanwhile, the Columbians have been in terrible form as of late, and can’t get any momentum going on the court. They have lost four of their last five; with the solitary victory over that course coming in a hotly-contested 120-105 win over the NLEX Road Warriors.
They began the season in the worst way possible with three straight defeats against Alaska Aces, Meralco Bolts and Blackwater Elite. However, there has been reason for optimism over recent weeks as they have scored at least 100 points in each of their last three outings.
However, a matchup against the leaders of the division may be a step too far even though you can sense a winning coming on the horizon.
Most recently they fell 110-103 to the Magnolia Hotshots in another game of high-quality basketball. Lester Prosper scored a game-high of 26 points on his debut for Columbian, and that was a reason to cheer about for the home fans.
His inclusion in the roster could be massive moving forward and could show a change in fortune should his teammates step up to the standard he is laying down. Meanwhile, there were also double-digit point’s tallies for CJ Perez, Glenn Khobuntin, Rashawn McCarthy and Jackson Corpuz.
Prosper also led the number of total rebounds and blocked the second-highest amount of shots in the game.
The quality that he brings to the team in undoubted, but it remains to be seen how it will affect his teammates against a better opponent such as TNT.
The signs for future weeks are good, but it looks unlikely that the impact that will come with having Prosper won’t be that sudden; especially when you consider the glittering form that TNT have been on. The league leaders will take some stopping, and that doesn’t look to be in the form of Columbian.
